by Brittany Farmer, MSSA, MSW What brought me to PAC? I truly feel that God led me to Pregnancy Aid Clinic. I have always had the passion for advocacy work. I loved building girls and women self-esteem through, resources, mentoring, classes, groups and case management services. My experience has been working with children, youth and families who have experienced trauma. My background is in Social Work and Social Administration. I received my BSW from Clark Atlanta University and my master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University. My expertise and focus has been in the area of sex trafficking. I have worked with girls and women who are survivors of sex trafficking, domestic violence and many forms of abuse. I was noticing a lot of the survivors who I worked with became pregnant during or after experiencing sex trafficking. I found many of the women were healing from the trauma of their many experiences. I found that a lot of the women needed to be connected to resources in the community to help build their self-esteem, courage, strength, knowledge, and faith. By connection girls and women to PAC and other community resources it strengthened their faith, parenting skills, encouraged them to choose life.
I had a young client who was pregnant. I would bring her to Pregnancy Aid Clinic for parenting classes and I would wait in the car. One day I decided to come in and the energy I felt was amazing. I could feel the present of God. My client would talk about how empowered she felt and discussed the many things she learned with so much excitement. She would discuss how she felt peace and like she was being prepared to become a parent with baby items, knowledge and tips. I knew Pregnancy Aid Clinic was a great place and I could not pass up the opportunity to work at PAC. PAC was connected to what I already loved doing, service. I love being able to build women up. I love helping them to discover their strength and find their voice. There’s nothing like being in a room with a client and feeling God enter the room, intercede and speak thorough me. I have been called and led by God to this place. I am so thankful to serve at Pregnancy Aid Clinic. I am Brittany Farmer and I love PAC.
